Economic violence, a little-known aspect of domestic violence after a breakup

"A breakup in the context of domestic violence does not necessarily mean the end of violence. It can transform and take new forms, including economic violence. In some cases, violent ex-spouses try to maintain control over the mother of their children by depriving them of the child support they are entitled to. This is a little-known aspect of domestic violence, which is part of the concept of coercive control that women's aid organizations want to have recognized in the Criminal Code."
